Sign-in: simpler passwords, a clearer reset page, safer social sign-in

Published:

What changed

  • Sign-ups work again. New accounts created with an e-mail address are no longer locked out after registration.
  • A simpler password rule. Passwords are 8 to 128 characters. A password shorter than 12 characters must mix at least two of letters, digits and other characters. Passwords generated by a browser or password manager are accepted. The same rule is checked on the server.
  • A reset page that explains itself. It shows a live checklist of the rule, whether both passwords match, and why the button is not available yet. Resetting your password also confirms your e-mail address, and an older reset link stops working once you request a new one.
  • E-mail addresses match regardless of capitals when you sign in or reset a password.
  • Social sign-in. Google, Facebook, LinkedIn and Microsoft are offered. The same checks apply as for a password sign-in, so a disabled account cannot get in through a social account. A social sign-in is joined to an existing Enydea account with the same e-mail address only when the provider confirms that address. LinkedIn sign-in works again.
